Our Team

Paul brings a unique blend of skills and experience to Hobbs & Towne, leveraging years of work in global finance and his experience as a successful entrepreneur in the clean energy space. He is a key member of the firm in the industrial technology and sustainability sectors, with a passion for energy, transportation and advanced mobility, advanced materials and manufacturing, and resource efficiency broadly, including food, water, waste, agriculture, and the circular economy.

Paul has worked extensively with leading investors and high-growth organizations to solve their most critical strategic hiring challenges. He has placed principal investors and operating partners directly at funds and private family offices including Energy Impact Partners (Partner), Closed Loop Partners (Managing Director, Executive Director), True North Venture Partners (Operating Partner), BMW iVentures (Principal), and others.

He has also placed key executives at portfolio companies of investors including Brookfield Asset Management, Generation Investment Management, Energy Impact Partners, Oaktree Capital, Atlas Holdings, Breakthrough Energy Ventures, Andreessen Horowitz, Kleiner Perkins, Amplify Partners, Y Combinator, Social Capital, and Playground Global. He has advised bleeding-edge startups such as Relativity Space, Apeel Sciences, Pivot Bio, Sunlight Financial, Global Thermostat, Formetrix, and Loliware, and growth-stage businesses like Array Technologies, 3Degrees, Gevo, Greentech Capital Advisors, HomeWorks Energy, and PrecisionHawk.

Prior to joining the firm, Paul co-founded Sealed Inc., the first company ever to contractually guarantee energy savings in homes. Additionally, Paul spent seven years in finance, primarily with ED&F Man in London. He has lived and worked in Chicago, New York, London, and Hong Kong, and built a diverse personal and professional network across the U.S., Europe, and Asia.

Paul graduated from the University of Illinois with degrees in business and trumpet performance. He is active in the arts, both as a patron and performer. He was the Founding President of the Overture Council of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, and he is a past member of the Skokie Valley Symphony and Union League Brass Ensemble. Paul is a seasoned international traveler who enjoys running, swimming, and skiing.
