    Guest Speaker: Jim Barry, Chief Investment Officer of BlackRock Alternatives and Global Head of BlackRock Real Assets / Jim Barry, Managing Director, is global head of BlackRock Infrastructure Investment Group (BIIG) within BlackRock Alternative Investors (BAI). Prior to joining BlackRock in 2011, Mr. Barry spent 11 years as the CEO of NTR plc, where he led the transformation of NTR from its origins as an Irish toll road developer into a leading international developer, owner and operator of a portfolio of diverse infrastructure businesses. Prior to joining NTR, Mr. Barry worked at Bain and Company and in the investment banking division of Morgan Stanley. Mr. Barry earned a BComm from University College Cork in 1989 and an MBA from Harvard Business School in 1994.

  • Pathology of COVID-19

    Guest Speaker: Sindura Ganapathi, Deputy Director, Global Health Division @Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation / Sindura joined the foundation in 2012. His work has largely focused on R&D agenda around maternal, neonatal and child health to improve conditions which together account for ~70% of the under 5 mortality and significant morbidity. Prior, Sindura served as Chief of Staff to the President of Global Health where he worked as a thought partner to the President to help run the Global Health division. He also worked as a program officer in maternal and child health. He is also interested in ‘One Health’ topic that brings together animal and human health sectors for innovations. As part of this, he coordinated the integration of foundation’s human health and animal health strategies, including the launching foundation’s first ‘Grand Challenges Exploration’ topic in this area to source innovations. Before joining the Gates foundation, Sindura worked in the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences where his research focused on ion channel physiology and inositol phosphate biology.

  • Business Crisis Management During a Pandemic

    Guest Speaker: Timothy Warrington, Chief Executive Officer @SKAGEN Funds / Timothy Warrington has been CEO of SKAGEN Funds since May 2018. Prior to becoming CEO, over 12 years with SKAGEN, he held several positions including Deputy CEO, Director of Wealth Management and Managing Director International. Other appointments have included a non-executive advisory position with the private equity group Denham Capital. And he currently chairs the Group of Boutique Asset Managers, a global network of independent fund management companies. Before entering financial services, he served over 20 years as a Gurkha officer and commanded 1st Battalion The Royal Gurkha Rifles. The greater part of his service was concerned with international operations and crisis response, including planning for the 2002-03 SARS outbreak and the 2004-07 Avian Flu outbreak. He is a graduate of Durham University, The Royal Military Academy Sandhurst, the final Army Command and Staff Course at Camberley, and executive leadership courses at both Oxford University and St.Gallen University.
